General description

This circular hike in Badia takes visitors into the very heart of the unique natural landscape of the Armentara meadows.
You cross snow-covered meadows in an incredible beauty. Above the tree line extend the alpine pastures, testimony to the work of man. Farmers here have shaped the landscape while still maintaining its equilibrium.

Route description

The hike starts in Badia (bus stop), where you follow the sign "Roda de Armentara". Walk up to San Linert and pass the church in the centre of the village. Then you continue towards the Fussé and Ciastel farms. Now the trail takes you into the forest and climbs up to the Valgiarëi farm (signpost). Here you continue to the left, heading north-east through a hollow, then back into the forest. A forest road leads to the Arciara and Furnacia farms, where you turn right (south-east) and head slightly uphill for about 20 minutes to reach a fork in the road. (In Winter, this path can be done with snowshoes or going directly to the hut Ranch da André).

Take the trail leading south (right) to the edge of the trees. At the next junction, go right again, following the signs to Badia – Roda de Armentara as far as the Ranch da André hut (walking time: approx. 2 hours 40 minutes). The trail takes you across the alpine meadows of Armentara, at first flat and then going downhill. After passing a picturesque lake and the alpine huts of Razuns, you come to the hamlet of Valgiarei.

Still following the signs to "Badia – Roda de Armentara", you come to some typical farms (Cialaruns, Andrac, Alfarëi and Ruac) and finally back to San Linert and the starting point in Badia (bus stop).
